Neutrogena is a go-to skin care brand that is found in almost all drugstores around the country, and its prices are accessible to most; this makes “Neutrogena acne products” line customer favorites.
They have almost a dozen varieties that will fit customer needs, including creams, wipes, washes, and scrubs, not to mention several high-tech accessories (we will review these in a separate article).

All in all, it is important to know your own skin and whether your acne is easy to clear (where you can use the Oil-Free Acne Wash) or if your acne seems to stay no matter what (where Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne will likely work better).
If you are looking for a treatment that is easy to get and effective, this is likely a good option for you.
In short, we believe that with the Neutrogena line, you are really getting a bang for your buck. While few products cost more than $10, their acne products work very well for most types of acne.
The downside is that their ingredients, because they are a company that mass-produces its products with basic chemical ingredients, they are not very well looked-upon by organizations like the Environmental Working Group.
If you are allergic or sensitive to certain active ingredients, make sure to read the ingredient label before trying Neutrogena.
- Best value
- Last 2-3 months each
- Effective on blackheads, pimples, and cystic acne
- Variety of products for different types of acne
- Smells nice
- Products aren’t specific to skin types
- Won’t correct causes of acne below skin surface
- Ingredients not approved by the EWG
Our favorite is their moisturizing cream for acne-prone skin, which is a product that is difficult to find in any brand.
We also love that for some products, like the Pink Grapefruit line, they have the base formula with different features for everyone; this includes a smooth wash, an exfoliating wash, body acne wash, and wipes.
The only downside is that in terms of the products themselves is that the ingredients are frowned upon by natural skincare buffs.
If you are averse to any particular ingredients, make sure to read the label before buying any products of the Neutrogena line as your go-to acne treatment wash.
Their acne line includes:
- Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion and Face Wash
- Oil-free Acne Wash, Pink Grapefruit Cleanser, Foaming Scrub, Wipes, and Moisturizer
- Deep Clean Gentle Scrub
- Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power Cream Wash with Microclear Technology
- Oil-Free Acne Wash
- Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne
- On-The-Spot Acne Treatment
But, how effective is their acne line for busting breakouts and keeping them away?
The Neutrogena acne products line is effective for most types of mild acute cases of acne. Like most topical treatments, it won’t correct the underlying causes of acne, so once to stop using the product, it is possible the acne will return
You will likely start to see results after about the first 5 days of use, and you should continue to see improvements over the following 6 to 8 weeks.
